Episode 22: March 15, 2017

Episode 22: This edition of BikeTalk starts in low(brow) gear, with a frank and engaging discussion about unassisted nasal evacuations, more commonly known as ‘snotrockets’. Galen lays out a five point plan to properly execute this common cyclist maneuver and we get several listener call-ins to enliven the discussion. We had no idea how complex the topic could be..

Next we get a call from local pedicabber, Ben Spencer, who shares stories from his 6+ years riding passengers, both local and visiting, around Boston. Did you know the machines they ride weigh 300lbs without passengers? We talk about how he gets moving and, more importantly, how he safely stops. As Ben said, “It’s amazing how much you can learn about somebody in thirty minutes.”

Galen shares details of his recent trip to the National Bike Summit in our nation’s capital, including onsite interviews. Our hosts then take a quick dip into how they got around by bicycle as children in the 80s and 90s.

The show wraps up with a reading of the events calendar and an update on our #modeMix survey..have you shared your view yet? Galen and Mully start the show and are joined later by Jess, all in the cozy confines of A-control at WMBR 88.1fm. C’mon Spring!
